About Kentucky Basketball
Kentucky basketball is one of college basketball’s true blue-bloods.
The Wildcats have won the NCAA Tournament eight times — by far the most in the SEC and second only to UCLA (11).
Adolph Rupp built the program into a national champion and perennial contender. Rupp won 876 games at Kentucky, retiring with the most wins in college basketball history. He led the Wildcats to NCAA Tournament titles in 1948, 1949, 1951 and 1958. John Calipari (410 wins), Joe B. Hall (297 wins), Tubby Smith (263 wins) and Rick Pitino (219 wins) are the only other coaches in program history who won more than 200 games. They each won the NCAA Tournament one time.
